In today’s society, more than ever, it may be hard to catch your ground as a woman who might wear multiple hats daily, luckily, there is someone like Charla Young. Serving as a powerful vessel and a sheer testament to the power of determination and resilience, Charla is momentously breaking barriers. Throughout the world, the multi-faceted guru has created a rapid-growing community for Power to Exhale, an empowerment organization that is based in love and positive energy. Her global outreach has grown in over 5 countries with over 112 chapters and more than 600,000 members. As a mother, visionary, Emmy award-winning journalist, author and non-profit founder, Charla exemplifies adaptability and a passion to bring various communities together.

Charla had a strong upbringing alongside her siblings in Amory, Mississippi, a town known for its rich musical legacy. Inspired by her mom’s success as a beautician and entrepreneur, Charla showed an authentic talent for advocacy and communication. Her passion led her to graduation Summa cum laude from the University of Southern Mississippi to pursue a Bachelor of Arts in Broadcast Journalism and a minor in Spanish and English. Charla's journey in the media commenced humbly as a DJ at a local radio station. One of her stand-out moments in journalism came when she covered a devastating plane crash for a CBS television affiliate, the opportunity not only showcased her media prowess, but it gained extensive acclaim.


Her entrepreneurial success led her to pioneer the Power to Exhale movement, a transformative initiative aimed to empower individuals to embrace their true selves and lead fulfilling lives. What started as a basic idea flourished into a powerful platform for positive transformation, echoing Charla's dedication to inspiring and motivating others.


With a forward-thinking mindset for the future, Charla envisioned expanding her influence of empowerment through a unique and fun way for many, making her the 1st black woman to own a cruise experience in partnership with Royal Caribbean Cruises. The highly anticipated festival, Power To Exhale’s Royal Caribbean Independence of the Seas.


This year, the cruise entertainment adventure will feature Hip-Hop & R&B legends Doug E. Fresh, Joe, The Isley Brothers, Method Man, and Red Man, just to name a few. The cruise will set sail from Miami to Ocho Rios, Jamaica Sept. 2-7, 2024. If you don’t have your passport, no problem.

Young’s passion is driven by her goal of fostering inclusive environments where people from diverse backgrounds can gather to learn, develop, and flourish. Her unwavering commitment to lifting others up underscores her mission to establish a legacy rooted in empowerment and meaningful transformation.
