If a dog is man’s best friend, then the Lexus HS 250h is a driver’s best friend. With new and innovative technology, this vehicle has the best interest of the driver at its core.

I first met my new friend in the parking lot of my office building. As we were being introduced, I couldn’t help but notice the 18” alloy wheels on which its luxurious body rested. I followed the natural contours of the vehicle and was fixated by the attractiveness of the front end. Although it is very noticeable it is also understated, a definite indication of class. The hybrid label can be seen on the trunk and at the bottom of both the driver and passenger doors. This is just an aside. Frankly, I don’t know why I even mentioned it. The lights, segmented in a way that is both appealing and distinctive; enhanced by technological advancements. For example, adaptive front-lighting automatically adjusts to oncoming traffic. The cleanliness of the headlights is maintained by washer fluid that is sprayed on the headlights when the headlight cleaner switch is flipped. Most of the newer models are equipped with rearview cameras, but how many vehicles have front view cameras? The HS 250h does!

2010-hs-250h-console-502When I was finally able to get behind the steering wheel of the HS 250h, I felt like the pilot of a plane or the captain of a spaceship. The dashboard was loaded with the latest technology. There was a button or a switch for almost everything. On my right there were buttons to control the head-up display, which is a screen that projects vehicle speed and other information on the windshield allowing drivers to keep their eyes on the road. On my left were buttons to control the two different driving modes, eco and power. Near the right side of my hip were buttons to control the 10 way power driver’s seat and near the left side of my hip were controls for the heated and ventilated seats. Some of the most intriguing features were located on the center console. The unique navigation system controlled by a remote, unlike most models that come with touch screen control, works like a computer mouse. The remote is very user friendly and is contoured perfectly to the mold of the average driver’s hand. Other features that were controlled by buttons on the console are the dual-zone climate control, 6-disc in-dash CD changer audio system, and more for the navigation system. Above my head were controls for the sunroof and home link system, and on the steering wheel there were buttons for the audio and Bluetooth technology. It was almost a technology overload!

44467214Although the HS 250h is loaded with technology it is not complicated to drive. Being behind the wheel is more than an enjoyable experience; it is a phenomenon. Due to inclimate weather, I didn’t get a chance to style with an opened sunroof, but I still had fun operating the vehicle. With that being said continue to look for the extraordinary in this automobile. Don’t look for the traditional gearshift in this baby. That would be too ordinary. Rather, get a kick out of using the joystick like gearshift to drive. The gearshift is so unlike the traditional. The gears have a different way of staying in place. That is so cool! A soft beeping noise can be heard when the gears are shifted to revere. The low frame of the HS 250h makes for an extremely smooth drive. In addition, the ride is also quiet because of the hybrid technology that allows the Lexus to run on the 2.4 liter gas engine and electric motor. Depending on preference, a driver can operate the vehicle in one of two modes. The eco mode allows the gas pedal to respond gradually thereby saving gas but not giving a lot of power. The power mode does exactly as the name suggests. It resembles the power given by a conventional automobile. When thinking about saving gasoline, the first thing that comes to mind is fuel economy. The EPA ratings are 35 mpg city and 34 mpg highway.

I have only mentioned some of the great advances that the Lexus HS 250h has, but before ending this, I have to tell about one button that helps sleepy drivers or those who have a problem steering. The lane keep assist button helps drivers to stay in their lane by beeping loudly when the vehicle veers off course. Find out about all the technology, buttons, and controls of the HS 250h by simply inviting it to your home and making it your new best friend. A beautiful friendship can begin for a base price of $36,970.00. Get connected with your friend at a local Lexus dealership or visit www.lexus.com.
