Top 5 Most Stylish People
Houston Style Magazine is redefining the word “style.” Usually the word “style” is associated with fashion. A stylish person is one who wears the latest fashions and is current on the trends of the day. At the magazine we think elevating the stature of our fellow man is stylish. With that in mind five Houston area residents have been chosen as this year’s most stylish citizens. This was a hard decision since so many were deserving but what follows is our top five.
5 – Winell Herron: Known as the one of the many faces of national grocercier H-E-B, Herron is ensuring that in Houston everything’s better by extending herself beyond her title of vice president of public affairs of H-E-B to cover the affairs of the entire community. She serves on the boards of the Houston Area Urban League, the San Jacinto Girl Scouts, Big Brother Big Sister of Greater Houston, American Leadership Forum and the Medical Indigent Care in Texas Taskforce. In addition she is a trustee for the University of Incarnate Word.
4 – Henry Frazier: A man who made what many thought impossible, possible. He took a team that had one of the worst records in the Southwestern Athletic Conference and helped it to achieve one of the best in the school’s history. This year the Prairie View A&M University Panthers became the 2009 SWAC Champions. The team had not achieved this fete since 1964.
3 – Dr. Jonita Reynolds: As CEO of the only community action agency in the city of Houston to receive funds from the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs to administer American Recovery and Reinvestment Act money, Dr. Reynolds has proven herself to be an agent of change as she builds families and changes lives that seek help from Gulf Coast Community Services Association (GCCSA). Under her guidance GCCSA has $7.2 million dollars to stimulate Houston’s job market, the economy, and sustain both. For her efforts to better Houston Dr. Reynolds is our number three pick.
2 – Ronald Green: In a hard run campaign Ronald Green was victorious in becoming the city of Houston’s first African American City Controller. A man who has been tried and tested will become the city’s new financial watchdog and will help Houston weather future hard economic storms. For his historic accomplishment and the task that is before him he is deserves to be in the number two spot.
1 – Deavra Daughtry: Sewing seeds today for a better tomorrow is what this lady does best. It is because of the anticipated outcome of her hard work today that we rank her number one. Through the Texas Women’s Empowerment Foundation, Daughtry is rewriting the history of families by empowering them with tools to better themselves and others.
