center_graphic_templatelisaIn order to have love for a career, people always do something they like and it seems they never work a day in their lives. As a little girl Lisa Price knew she loved fragrances. When she was older she began experimenting with smell good items around her kitchen to make new, different fragrances. Like any good thing, Price didn’t want to keep it all for herself so she gave some away to friends. Those same friends gave the products to their friends. Pretty soon a demand for Price’s fragrances began rising. Before Price knew it, she had a clientele and the start of a beautiful business. That was almost twenty years ago when making fragrance was her hobby. Flash forward to today and her hobby has become her career. Lisa Price is CEO and founder of Carol’s Daughter.

Carol’s Daughter began a long time ago when Lisa Price was a very little girl. When other young girls rushed off to buy Barbie dolls or candy with their allowance, Price headed to a different part of the store, the beauty counter. She wanted a new perfume. “Fragrance is just something that has always fascinated me. I love the way flowers are blended with vanilla and sandalwood and the different moods that can be created with fragrance,” said Price. That initial interest soon got her to try to make her own unique scents. “I could make my own (fragrance) and have something special for me, and I could make something better than what is out there.” During the summer of 1993 others began to notice that Price was right. She did have something that was better. At the encouragement of her mother, Price began selling these great homemade concoctions. This avenue help launch her into the hair market and she became a real businesswoman. She noticed that her clients wanted hair care products in addition to perfume, sometimes more so. Answering the demand, Price expanded her product line. Soon customers were demanding more products. Price came to the realization that she couldn’t keep up her business and her day job as a writer’s assistant on the hit show, “The Cosby Show,” so she did the next logical thing. Taking a leap of faith she quit her daytime job and her passion for her hobby became her fulltime job.

The over 100 products for hair and skin on the Carol’s Daughter product line are distinctive because they are naturally made. “Initially when I started making them (products) I was making things in my kitchen so using natural ingredients was something that was convenient and made it easier for me to do what I was doing. Then the more that I learned about what I was doing and learned about the benefits of the ingredients, the more I realized that this is the way to go.” Price continued, “You get better results. It really works on the skin. It works on the hair, so it is something that I keep doing now.” The natural elements of her products are very reflective in the name. Take for example, Rosemary Mint Shampoo that contains rosemary and peppermint. Often her product names are not inspired by their ingredients but by music. Sweet Honey Dip Chocolate Brown Sugar is body butter that Price made approximately ten years ago while listening to Jill Scott and D’Angelo. One has to admit that combination does sound like some sweet honey chocolate brown sugar.
