Who’s Who Publishing Announces Foreword and Introduction Writers for Fourth Edition of Who’s Who in Black Houston

Who’s Who Publishing Company is thrilled to announce Dr. John M. Rudley, president of Texas Southern University, as the introduction writer of its fourth edition of Who’s Who In Black Houston™. Penning the foreword will be Dr. George C. Wright, president of Prairie View A&M University.

The fourth edition will highlight the importance of education in the Houston area. With only 58.5 percent of freshmen in the Houston region completing their high school careers, attention to education is necessary. Phyllis Bailey, associate publisher says, “We want the parents of Houston’s high school seniors to know they have a wealth of education choices in our own city.”

As the 11th president of Texas Southern University, Rudley has held numerous leadership positions in higher education, including vice president for business and finance at the Tennessee Board of Regents, the sixth largest system of postsecondary education in the nation. Rudley earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from The University of Toledo, and both a Master of Education degree in administration and supervision and a Doctor of Education degree in administration from Tennessee State University. “We appreciate this opportunity to highlight the wealth of higher education resources available to students in the Houston area,” Rudley says.

Wright, the seventh president of Prairie View A&M University, is a noted African-American scholar leading the 130-year-old HBCU with an established reputation for producing thousands of African-American engineers, nurses and educators. With an experienced executive and educational background, he received bachelor’s and master’s degrees in history from the University of Kentucky. He also holds a doctorate degree in history from Duke University. Wright says, “Being a part of Who’s Who In Black Houston™ gives our universities the opportunity to showcase all of the things that make Historically Black Colleges and Universities unique.”
