Macy’s Almeda Celebrates Grand Re-Opening
Macy’s announced today the grand re-opening plans for the store at Almeda Mall in South Houston, taking place on Wednesday, September 23 beginning at 9:45 am with a ribbon cutting ceremony. The single-story, 129,000 square-foot store will be Macy’s 16th store in the Houston area. Macy’s Almeda will house a full assortment of merchandise for men, women, children and soft home accessories. Additionally, plasma TVs, price checkers and fitting rooms with tastefully appointed lounges have been added throughout the store to enhance customers’ shopping experience.
Macy’s District Vice President for the Houston area stores Gary Hudgins stated, “We’re very excited to be able to invest in the South Houston community, and to reopen our doors to service our customers in the greater Almeda area. We have completely renovated this store, and we believe our customers will be thrilled with the new design and layout. It’s truly a brand new Macy’s in every sense.”
Though it will have a completely fresh look and feel, Macy’s Almeda will offer shoppers the brand variety they’ve come to expect (see page 3 for a sampling of vendors) along with conveniences and superior customer service. Phil Jones, General Manager, Macy’s Almeda, said, ”Our new store fits our community — it has a hip, urban influence, while maintaining those features that our long-term customers tell us they cherish.” Jones reassured customers that their long-time associates will be on hand to welcome them back to the store: “Our talented sales staff has been buzzing about servicing the community and we’re eagerly awaiting the grand opening celebration to show off the community’s newest store to its residents,” stated Jones.
The Grand Opening Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at Macy’s Almeda takes place at 9:45 a.m. on September 23. The first 500 customers to enter through the north entrance of the store will receive a $10.00 Macy’s gift card. Throughout the day, Macy’s will host special events including live music, gifts, fashion events, family fun time and of course, legendary shopping.

• 9:45 a.m. – Ribbon Cutting Ceremony – Join the Grand Re-opening Ribbon Cutting ceremony on Wednesday, September 23 at the north entrance at 9:45 a.m. The Frank Dobie High School Lariettes and Longhorn Drumline Band will help usher in guests. Also, enjoy the sounds of Los Gallitos, an 8-piece Mariachi band, as they perform live while Macy’s open its doors

• 2 p.m. – 5 p.m. – Groove to contemporary Jazz, soulful R&B, Pop and Latin performed by the Jaime Casco Trio
• 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. – Moodafaruk mixes the Flamenco, Middle Eastern, Spanish and Western motifs for all to enjoy
• 10:00 a.m. – Family Fun Time, Kids’ Department – Visit with Sprinkles the Clown, she’ll offer face painting and balloons creations or visit anytime throughout the day to make something special at the Kids’ craft table
• 11: 00 a.m. – Cosmetics Extravaganza – DJ Gracie Chevez will be on hand until 4 pm to help celebrate. Giveaways, makeovers, and great “gifts with purchase” all day long.
