Collage Ministries Announces First Annual Flatline 2009 Coed Conference
Realizing that today’s teens are faced with daily temptations and struggles, Collage Ministries announces the first annual Flatline conference on October 30-31st which will specifically address these issues with teens and their parents. The conference will bring together co-ed age groups from 13 to 35 at the Shoreline Christian Center in Austin, Texas to discuss important issues faced by every generation including parental conflict, drugs, sex, depression and even suicide. Founders of Collage Ministries (www.collageministries.org <http://www.collageministries.org> ), Nicole and Alexandra Hutchenson, found a way to cut through the chaos and address the real issues facing a flatlining generation. Grounded in the lessons of the bible, Collage Ministries hopes to help teenagers and parents bridge the gap between generations.
According to the Allan Guttmacher Institute, teenagers whose parents talk to them on a regular basis about the dangers of drug use are 42 percent less likely to use drugs than those whose parents don’t. According to the Henry J. Kaiser Foundation, teens that use alcohol or drugs are up to seven times more likely to have sex than those who avoid alcohol. What is more, nearly one million girls under the age of 20 become pregnant each year.
“I believe that speaking on the subjects that are not spoken about, where teens feel most alone, is where we can give guidance and faith, and make it an integral part of this generation’s life” states Nicole Hutchenson, co-founder of Collage Ministries. “It is for this reason, of bridging the gap and giving the appropriate attention to today’s youth, that this generation will not become a Flatline generation.”
Collage Ministries is offering hope to teens who struggle to see how God works in their individual life. The Flatline Conference will offer guidance on issues that young men and women face daily, including an entire “Let’s Talk about Sex” panel, several sessions lead by guests speakers from around the country, and five musical performances by Barlow Girl, Superchick, Vota, Eric Moore & Resonate and Fireflight.
Two-Day passes for all sessions and concerts can be purchased online at http://www.collageministries.org/flatline/ for $45. VIP passes are also on sale for $150 and include a VIP Badge, Early Seating, and a VIP Mixer to meet all special guests and bands.
