Remembering the Life and Legacy of David Joubert, Sr.

Deputy Constable David Joubert, Sr.
Rain waters Earth and life is given to nature. Rain symbolizes tears flowing from the clouds. On Friday, January 18, 2008, the thirst of the Earth was quenched and tears of sadness flowed. It rained all day long and many tears were shed as mourners celebrated the short life of David Joubert, Sr. at Brentwood Baptist Church.
Joubert bounced into the world on September 21, 1947, as the fourth child of Hazel and Alton Joubert in Pine Island, Louisiana. After being educated in Louisiana schools, Joubert served in the United States Marine Corps from June 1966 to June 1972. In the corps he was one of the few good men serving in the Vietnam War, achieving the rank of sergeant (E-5), and receiving a purple heart. After a stint of employment with the United States Postal Service, Joubert drove into the field of law enforcement in November 1979. As in his previous careers, he excelled in this area. Throughout the span of his law enforcement career he served as Deputy Constable with Precinct 7, Bailiff for Justice of the Peace Court, prison guard for Texas Department of Corrections, and police officer for Kendleton Police Department. He soon retired but retirement for Joubert did not last for long because he rejoined Harris County Precinct 7 as Deputy Constable (Warrant Officer) in January 2005. As member of this elite force that protects and serves, he was a member of the precinct’s Motorcycle/Motorcade Unit and Honor Guard volunteering for dignitary escorts, traffic control, community parades, and special events. It was during the service of his duties that he was killed on Saturday, January 12, 2008.
