Ladies Do You Want to Be Fabulous?
Assume it’s six o’clock in the evening, you just got home from work and after watching the news, “Extra” or “Etertainment Tonight” comes on. Do you ever look at those celebrities such as Beyonce’ Knowles, Tyra Banks, Reese Witherspoon, Kimora Lee Simmons, Lauren Conrad…and wish, “Man, if I could only look and feel that fabulous?” Well Ladies, I think all of us can vouch and say we have at least done that once or twice. But now, we don’t have to wonder about how to live the fabulous life anymore because Kimora Lee Simmons, renown supermodel and owner and creator of Baby Phat has stopped by to tell us in her book “Fabulosity: What It Is & How to Get It.”
How exactly do we gain this “fabulosity?” Through six chapters entitled: “Self-Belief & Confidence,” “Work & Power,” “Independence,” “Image & Body,” “Romance & Lifestyle,” and “Positivity & Sustainiblity,” Kimora specifically breaks down the recipe. She also provides us with sixteen laws which serve as sub-ingredients for us to follow so that at the end of the day, fabulosity is attainable.
While it seems that “fabulosity” is only brought on by money and fame, Kimora explains the inner “fabulosity” that lives inside of you and me. “…If you can let yourself dream enough to visualize (the possibilities) and see that they exist, you’ll figure out a way to start connecting the dots and realize them” is an exerp of a little advice that Kimora gives in her intro. She also lets all women know that they need to “…aspire to greatness, walk tall, and define your identity the way you want, no matter what other people say.” Kimora Lee Simmons is a woman of great pride and dignity. A woman who stands 6’4” in high-heel shoes and is not embarrassed; a woman who knows exactly who she is therefore tries to always stand out from the rest of society. She believes that all women should have the same confidence, and even shares her stories growing up as someone who did not fit in, lacking all confidence.
“Now, I know your thinking, Kimora is so beautiful, and I will never look like that!” Don’t feel bad, just looking at her I thought the same thing. However, Kimora explains that its not in the makeup, the clothes, the jewelry, or the profession; it’s ultimatly in you. She has little homework boxes throughout the book that will help you excersice some of the principles of “fabulosity” as you read. One that caught my eye was called “Broaden The Parameters.” Yes, we look at Kimora Lee Simmons, Halle Berry, Julia, Carrie Underwood… and see their shocking beauty, but Kimora ask that we not only look to them for our inspiration. She asks us to look at paintings of women from 200 years ago and even encourages us to cut pictures of African women in “National Geographic” so we can see that beauty is more than just what they show on main-streem television.
Well, after reading this, you should already know that “Fabulosity What It Is and How to Get It”is not just a book that documents a celebrity’s fame, but tells you how to feel the same way they feel everyday. It is a book that empowers the mind, body, and soul, physically and intellectually. I gurantee you by the time you get through reading this book, those heels you were contemplating taking back because you just felt too tall or socially uncomfortable, will be your favorite pair. And to top it all off, you won’t have to sit on the couch watching “Extra” and wonder what its like to be fabulous because you will have the recipe right in your hands. “Fabulosity What It Is and How to Get It” is defintely a must have. After all, ladies don’t you want to be fabulous?
