Embrace a Journey of Healing and Hope with Lisa McNair’s Inspiring Tale at IMpower Lecture 2024

Join the Interfaith Ministries for Greater Houston this spring for an evening of profound narratives and heartfelt reminiscences. Lisa McNair takes the stage at St John’s United Methodist Church to share her poignant story in the IMpower Lecture Series titled "Birmingham Bombing and Beyond: Living a Life of Love After Hate."

Set against the backdrop of a city steeped in history, this event, scheduled for Tuesday, May 21, 2024, will delve into a tale that traverses the chasm of racial violence to reach the shores of forgiveness. Lisa, whose sister was one of the four young victims of the 1963 16th Street Baptist Church bombing in Birmingham, speaks not only to memorialize but to advocate for love over hate, understanding over prejudice, and reconciliation over division.

Her book, “Dear Denise: Letters to the Sister I Never Knew,” heralded by NPR as one of the “Books We Love,” offers an intimate look into the life and loss her family endured and the remarkable resilience they have shown. The event not only commemorates the past but also sets a beacon of hope for the future, as Lisa’s messages resonate with the ongoing journey towards civil rights and social harmony.

This inspiring lecture will conclude with a book signing, offering attendees the opportunity to connect personally with Lisa.
