Houstonians joined those around the world to celebrate the Chinese New Year. The Lunar New Year is the auspicious beginning of the lunar calendar. This vibrant festival, observed by diverse cultures, combines ancient traditions with modern festivities. On February 10th, we welcomed the Year of the Dragon, launching the 15-day Spring Festival. In Houston, the city's rich multicultural tapestry adds a unique flavor to the celebrations. The local celebration culminated with the Latnern Festival. Dragons presented themselves as magnificent yet benevolent rulers who were confident, generous, idealistic and ambitious. As we embark on this new lunar cycle, we anticipate the arrival of baby dragons born in 2024, with each year bringing a new zodiac animal.
