In a momentous announcement for Houston's academic community, Dr. Margaret Ford Fisher has been officially named the Chancellor of Houston Community College (HCC), a pivotal step for an institution known for its dedication to educational innovation and excellence.

Dr. Ford Fisher, who previously excelled as the Interim Chancellor since September 1, 2023, is celebrated for her unwavering commitment and strategic vision. The HCC Board of Trustees, chaired by Dr. Cynthia Lenton-Gary, expressed their full support and confidence in her capabilities to steer HCC into a new era of academic achievements and community engagement.

With an illustrious career spanning nearly four decades at HCC, Dr. Ford Fisher's experience is nothing short of extraordinary. She was instrumental in founding HCC's Online College in February 2018, a groundbreaking initiative that has since been recognized by Newsweek as "One of America’s Best Online Colleges" for consecutive years in 2022 and 2023. Under her leadership, the Online College introduced over 60 fully online degree programs and 70 hybrid courses, propelling the enrollment figures to surpass 62,000 students and cementing the college's reputation for accessible, high-quality education.

Her tenure as president of HCC Northeast College for two decades is marked by her adept leadership in capital campaigns and the expansion of educational services through an HCC annexation initiative, demonstrating her proficiency in nurturing community relations and expanding HCC's reach.

Dr. Ford Fisher, a proud alumna of Wichita State University with a Bachelor's in English and a Master's in the Teaching of English, also holds a Doctorate in Education Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Houston. Her academic background lays a strong foundation for her role as a leader in education reform and curriculum development.
